Cobblers complete crucial comeback
Northampton battled back from two goals down to end their five-match losing streak with a 2-2 draw at Southend.
Makeshift striker Bilel Mohsni fired Southend ahead in the 27th minute with a 35-yard drive into the top right-hand corner of Sam Walker's goal.
Southend turned up the heat after half time and doubled their advantage in the 59th minute when Ryan Hall rifled a 25-yard shot beyond a diving Walker and into the left side of the goal.
But just 60 seconds later, Town's lone striker Adebayo Akinfenwa reduced the deficit by swivelling on the spot and blasting home.
Arron Davies equalised for the Cobblers in the 65th minute with a shot into the centre of the goal from 12 yards.
Mohsni also had a goal ruled out for offside late on as Town hung on for their first point since a 1-0 victory over Aldershot on August 13.
But the Cobblers finished the match with 10 men as Nick McKoy was sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence.
