Top scorer Marc Richards hit the second-half winner as in-form Northampton beat Morecambe 2-1.
Northampton got off to a flying start in the first minute when Brendon Maloney's low cross was parried by Andreas Arestidou and Joel Byrom pounced to score from six yards.
The visitors equalised in the 41st minute Matt Duke saved from Jack Redshaw but the ball popped up nicely for Jame Devitt to head home via the upright.
Richards restored Northampton's lead nine minutes after restart when he converted Evan Horwood's driven low cross at the far post.
Richards then missed a 70th-minute penalty, striking a post after Ricky Holmes had been fouled
Morecambe could have snatched a point but Alan Goodall hit the woodwork from just outside the box
