Danny Rose bagged his first goal for Sky Bet League Two leaders Northampton as they beat Wycombe 1-0 at Sixfields.
The Cobblers completely dominated the first half with James Collins off target with a couple of efforts and Ricky Holmes flashing a shot wide.
Wycombe's Anthony Stewart headed over from a corner as the visitors struggled to create any opportunities from open play.
Chairboys goalkeeper Ryan Allsop thwarted Holmes at his near post before John-Joe O'Toole saw his close-range effort blocked on the line as the Cobblers maintained the pressure on an overworked Wycombe defence.
Jason McCarthy flashed a shot across goal and Sam Wood fired over as Wycombe briefly threatened before the break.
After the restart, Holmes fired just over and Collins could not keep his header down before the Cobblers finally broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute.
The lively Holmes beat Joe Jacobson and crossed for Lee Martin who laid the ball back for Rose to find the roof of the net.
Adam Smith was finally tested by Stewart's low drive but substitute Lawson D'Ath almost doubled Northampton's lead when he shot over while Martin tested Allsop late on.
