Play-off chasing Northampton Town edged out struggling Tranmere Rovers 1-0 thanks to Ryan Cresswell's second-half winner.
James Gray was denied by Rovers goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams, who then thwarted Ricky Holmes as Cobblers made a lively start before the midfielder flashed a shot wide from the edge of the box.
In between, Tranmere's Josh Thompson twice headed over from set-pieces before Jennison Myrie-Williams shot over.
But Holmes continued to be the main threat for Northampton and another fine run saw him cut into the box where he was denied by Fon Williams.
Rob Taylor was off target for Tranmere but Lawson D'Ath went closest to breaking the deadlock for Cobblers when he hit the bar before Fon Williams denied O'Toole just before the break.
And Fon Williams was soon called into action after the restart to deny Gray which signalled a period of intense pressure from Cobblers.
Cresswell should have broken the deadlock when he headed wide from Darren Carter's corner.
But Cresswell made amends in the 62nd minute when he headed home Carter's free-kick.
D'Ath went close to doubling Northampton's lead moments later before Cresswell headed wide from another corner and Gray shot wide from a good position.
But Tranmere went close late on when Janoi Donacien's header was superbly saved by Matt Duke.
