Ian Sampson returned following suspension, replacing Richard Hope, who had a groin injury. Both teams came straight out of the starting blocks and it was the Cobblers who claimed the first corner in the opening minute. Gabbiadini and Paul Harsley both came close before the wonder goal on 10 minutes gave Town the lead.

Within five minutes the home side levelled. Rhys Weston had already fired a 20 yard effort over Lee Harper's goal before Graham Kavanagh looped a header over Harper from 10 yards.
Leo Fortune-West sent a long range effort over the top and Jamie Forrester went close at the other end with a free kick. The Town striker's shot clipped the wall and went behind for a corner.
The second half started in a similar fashion, Legg's dipping volley only just cleared the crossbar, before Gabbiadini silenced the home crowd for the second time that afternoon. Chris Marsh twice had shots blocked inside the penalty area, before the ball dropped to Gabbiadini who knocked it in from close range.
The home side went straight in for the kill, but Harper made saves from Fortune-West, Kavanagh and Rob Ernshaw to preserve the Cobblers' lead.
The points were secured after an long four minutes of injury time and Town move up to 8th place in the table.
