Another week of twists and turns in the Sixfields saga has seen takeover talk continue to circulate with Wilder's former chairman at Oxford United, Kelvin Thomas, being linked with a move to buy the club.
Thomas has been wary, however, of the number and complexity of the issues involved having held talks with Northampton Borough Council while current chairman David Cardoza has said he will write off around £6m in loans made to the club.
The Chronicle & Echo has been keeping up to date will all of the latest developments but Wilder, who along with his players may experience a delay in salary payment this month, is trying to keep his focus on the pitch and the long journey to face Newport County this Saturday.
He has said, however: "Everybody knows the bigger picture is the well-being and survival of the club.
"It has a proud history and tradition, it has been here a long time, and will hopefully be here a long time after I have gone, and after the players have gone, and that is the most important thing."
One report has already linked Wilder with the York City job and, while it may be too early to talk of a move elsewhere, his work at Sixfields will have won many admirers in the game.
