The 21-year-old is seen primarily as a central defender although he can also play at right-back and will come straight into the U's squad for this weekend's home game against Northampton Town.
Manager Richard Money told his club's official website: "Although he is not the biggest, he has good strength and is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet."
Hit by another week of negative off-field headlines, Northampton travel in good form on the pitch and, although Brendan Moloney and Evan Horwood have come through full practice matches this weeks, manager Chris Wilder does not envisage making too many changes to the team that have produced such good results in recent weeks.
