Saturday's heavy defeat at Mansfield saw Northampton drop into the relegation zone in League Two, just months after their play-off final reverse against Bradford City.
Boothroyd called his players in for training on Sunday and maintains that he has the players at his disposal to turn around Town's fortunes.
"I'm not shirking away from anything," he told BBC Radio Northampton.
"I was the man to put it right when we were bottom of the league before."
One of his players, captain Ian Morris, backed Boothroyd and said that any blame should be attached to the squad for the 'silly goals' they have been letting in.
***Update***A 'clear the air' meeting was held on Sunday with players and management giving 'honest words' and 'constructive criticism' according to Boothroyd.
