Although the League Two table will show the game as a meeting of the sides in 23rd and 19th place respectively, recent form has been good for both with the Cobblers winning two vital home games already this week and Rovers following up two victories by earning a late point at high-flying Scunthorpe in midweek.
Striker Alan Gow was stretchered off in that game and misses the trip to Sixfields.
Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol: "Chris Wilder has got his team up and running well. He's made some changes at Northampton.
"They will be pretty buoyant but we go there with two wins and a draw in our last three games. Each result helps you to push further forward and we've still got aspirations to see how far up the table we can get."
