John Fashanu's World Wide winners are the only other interested party left in contention after the club narrowed the competition down to two and dropped discussions with the other previously interested parties.
Tony Clarke MP and fans representative on the board of directors serving on behalf of the Trust has already threatened to quit if Mr Di Stefano's bid is successful.
A press statement by the Trust outlines their position:-
Northampton Town Supporters Trust unanimously agreed that the interests of Northampton Town Football Club and its supporters would not be best served by ownership of the football club falling into the hands of Giovanni Di Stefano.
We believe published information on Mr Di Stefano's character and history is at odds with the principles and objectives of the Supporters Trust as laid out in our constitution. In this light we would expect the board of Northampton Town Football Club to cease negotiations forthwith.
Whilst the Supporters Trust welcomes the club seeking new investors and potential owners, the Football Club have always stated that any sale would be in the best interests of Northampton Town Football Club.
The Supporters Trust will continue to encourage supporters to take an active role in the future of Northampton Town Football Club this can be achieved by becoming members of Northampton Town Supporters Trust.
