Trialists Rene Marsh Brown, Calum Flanagan, Jordan Dupray and Adi Yussef all played while Tadhg Purcell got himself on the scoresheet as he looks to prove his fitness to Gary Johnson.
The Irish striker is being closely monitored by a number of clubs keen to sign him on loan for the start of the season.
Northampton boss Johnson kept the majority of his big guns back for Wednesday night's friendly against Nottingham Forest at Sixfields, which marks the return to English soil of former national team boss Steve McClaren.
“It was okay, we got a better result than on Saturday and it enabled us to have a look at a few people,” Johnson told the Chronicle & Echo after the game.
“When the lads came on at the end they looked quite sharp and we created some good chances, we had some good play and that was perhaps what we didn’t see at Brackley.
“It’s another game and it will all get serious after Saturday and that’s when we can really start to judge it.”
