Johnson is still searching for his first win in charge of the club but has seen the Cobblers put in fine performances to draw with Bradford and Torquay in the past two matches.
He said: "The players feel they should have won the last two games and they are playing with a lot more confidence.
"Mentally there has been a change. The players are in a position to win games rather than just take part in them now and we will get a result very soon.
"They are getting the credit they deserve now and they got the stick they deserved before. Accrington will be a tough game but we travel with confidence and it would be a good scalp for us."
