The fans favorite was another player who failed to secure a suitable contract with the Cobblers and has departed on a freebie. Once rated at almost £1 million until injury kept him off the field.

The former Kettering keeper failed to get a new contract and it was reported Adam was looking at joining Diamonds.

30 year old former Arsenal and QPR keeper signed to replace the departing Keith Welch and imediately takes the No1 jersey.

Paul Harsley
Signed from Halifax to join the Cobblers midfield. Top scorer with the Shaymen last season due to lack of strikers in a depleted squad.

Darryn Stamp
Joined in controversial fashion with the Cobblers being accused of making an illegal approach to the Scarborough player then the fee being resolved by tribunal. Neither the Cobblers or the Sea Dogs were impressed by the result or the tribunal for the striker but Northampton have their man.

Nathan Abbey
Goalkeeper brought in from Luton on a temporary contract. Intends to compete with Lee Harper for the No1 shirt which can only be good for the team.

Paul Rickers
A player who joins the Northampton midfield after featuring in over 300 games for Oldham Athletic.

Paul Trollope
A very experienced midfielder who joins the Cobblers with the promise of the skippers armband. Has top flight experience with clubs such as Coventry, Fulham, C Palace and Derby.

Greg Lincoln
The youngster from Arsenal has never featured in the league to date but has some experience of football with Margate and Stevenage.

Jerry Gill
Jerry joins the Cobblers on a months loan from Birmingham City and hopes to make his mark and get back to playing 1st team football. Competitition for places within promoted Birmingham will be tougher than ever and a move into the 2nd division will ensure the 31 year old goes straight into the Cobblers defence.
