Torquay's drop into the Conference was confirmed on Saturday despite a 3-1 victory at Mansfield but Chris Hargreaves' side still have a huge part to play in the final-day drama.
They host Wycombe Wanderers next weekend with Wycombe knowing that they have to win to have any chance of staying up following a crucial home defeat by Bristol Rovers.
"It's a really down atmosphere, the dressing room is down," said Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth. "But I've got to pick them up."
Both Bristol Rovers and Northampton are three points ahead of Wycombe. At least a point from their respective final games will be enough to seal survival whatever Wycombe's result.
Bristol Rovers are at home to Mansfield Town while the Cobblers host Oxford United, both sides with little to play for on paper.
