"There are no points at stake on Tuesday night so we can go into the game with a relaxed attitude and the pressure will all be on Sunderland," he said.
"We are all looking forward to the game but like at Bolton it will only end up being an enjoyable experience if we get a good result.
"We are just a bit inconsistent at the moment and one or two of the players are fighting for a bit of confidence and form.
"I started my career at Nottingham Forest as did Roy Keane and I saw Sunderland play at Forest in the last round of the Carling Cup.
"I think Roy got caught out a little bit last season when he put out an under strength team at Luton but this season I think he's treating the competition very seriously. He played his strongest team against Forest and I'm sure he will do the same again on Tuesday.
"Goals change and win games and on Saturday we created some good chances which if we'd taken we could have been 2 or 3-0 up. Because we didn't do that though we put pressure on ourselves and at 3-1 we ended up chasing the game.
"If you break it down every goal you score is a good one but every goal you concede is a bad one and having looked at the video tape from Saturday the manner of the goals we conceded was obviously disappointing.
"At this moment in time we are getting punished for the mistakes we're making but we have just got to get on with it.
"There are always going to be shocks in the cup, we caused a shock by winning at Bolton and hopefully we will be able to cause another one at Sunderland. The most important thing for us though is to give a good account of ourselves and if we can do that then we will just have to see what happens.
"Sunderland had a good win against Middlesbrough at the weekend and I'm sure there will be a cracking atmosphere.
"Nine times out of ten a Premier League team will beat a League One team but we go into the game with nothing to fear.
"We will go and enjoy the occasion but we will only truly enjoy it if we win the game."
