Tuesday night's defeat at the hands of Gillingham marked the 10-game signpost that many managers use as the first genuine guide to their side's chances in a season with Town's record reading 3 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats to date for a 13-point total.
The Cobblers first ten league games in the 2011/12 season saw them win 3, draw 3 and lose 4, scoring 12 goals and conceding 13.
So, a fairly similar record to the current season but it was the next set of 10 league games which set the alarm bells started ringing for Town and which spelt the end for Gary Johnson.
Only 1 win was recorded with 2 draws, 7 defeats and a massive 26 goals conceded, culminating of course in the appointment of Aidy Boothroyd as boss.
The next set of 10 games for Boothroyd's boys begin at Bristol Rovers on Saturday. Check out the head-to-head records of the two sides by clicking below.
