Aidy Boothroyd's men won just 3 of their first 10 league games last season yet still ended up in the play-off places after a strong run of form in the new year and the manager has warned this summer that his new signings will take their time to settle in.
The financial nature of football at League Two level, with shorter contracts and a lot of available players, means most sides will have a number of new faces in their squad and a pattern of form will not be established for some time yet.
Not that Boothroyd will be content with letting valuable leads slip as the Cobblers did against Torquay United on Saturday and a tough week on the training ground is in store for his Town players.
