Northampton manager Ian Sampson has revealed that he is close to signing a striker on loan.
The Cobblers boss signed Tadgh Purcell from Darlington this week and is keen to add another forward option in the coming weeks.
Sampson said: "There are a few players that we are still targeting but we want to make sure that we bring in the right players. If that takes a few weeks then so be it.
"Another striker is still a priority at the moment and I think it is important for any team to have a target man who can hold the ball up.
"Those players don`t come cheap though so we maybe have to look at getting a player in on loan or taking a gamble on someone. "We do have a target man lined up on loan but he is going to spend the first part of pre-season with his parent club and could join us in a couple of weeks."
