Manager Gary Johnson intends to continue the wholesale reshaping of the squad he inherited over the next couple of weeks with a double signing to add to the three players already captured.
24-year-old Robinson, who has recently been released by Shrewsbury, caught the eye of many in League Two when loaned out to Torquay United in January with 7 goals in 22 games for the play-off finalists.
"I was expecting the decision, I was just disappointed with the way it was delivered," said Robinson after finding out he was not being offered a new contract via the Shrewsbury Town website.
