Having hauled themselves to within four points of safety, Chris Wilder's team will be hopeful that they can reduce that gap further with a surprise result against an Iron side who are second in the table but who have been held to draws in their last two outings.
Torquay United, three points behind the Cobblers, aim to avoid being cut adrift at the bottom when they host Fleetwood Town while Northampton will also be hoping that leaders Chesterfield win at Accrington with Stanley currently one place and four points above Town in the table.
A host of other teams are nervously looking over their shoulders and Wilder told BBC Radio Northampton: "We're in form. A lot of the teams are on the slide and we're not."
