The Cobblers are doing all the talking in League Two after they entered the play-off zone for the first time this term with a 2-0 victory over bottom side Darlington. A run of only two defeats in the last 17 games have raised hopes of an immediate return to League One.
Sampson, who was appointed in September, is keeping his cards close to his chest, but said: "We have got the momentum at present after four wins on the trot. When I took over as manager I was aiming for a top-half finish and now we have 10 games left to try to take it even further."
He continued: "I am not one of those people who gets ahead of himself and we have Morecambe here next Saturday to try to take it a step further. We will just try to win as many games as we can. It is good to keep another clean sheet.
"We still have to play a lot of the sides above us but we are clear of midweek fixtures apart from Easter and it means we can give the players a break, which is important at this time of the season.
"We are not always out on a football pitch. Sometimes we go swimming or just try to keep things fresh."
