Northampton manager Ian Sampson has revealed the club`s days of paying agents are over. The Football League confirmed the Cobblers spent £8,112 on agents` fees last season but Sampson - who took charge last September - is backing chairman David Cardoza`s stance to put an end to the outlay.
He told Press Association Sport: "We haven`t spent anything on agents since I have been in charge. "The chairman has said we will not pay agents anymore so that is that. "It can make it harder to sign players. We have a budget to work to and if the agent fees take it over that budget then we can`t do the deal but that`s tough.
"We pretty much know about all the players out there so an agent ringing me up about one makes no difference to me. If we can`t sign a player because he has an agent who wants money then the player loses out at the end of the day."
