Boss Ian Sampson could not hide his delight after watching Northampton secure their first away win of the season.
Dean Beckwith and John Johnson netted as the Cobblers claimed a 2-0 triumph over lowly Lincoln, much to Sampson's delight.
"It is another three points and we've turned the corner slightly. I was pleased with the performance, it was very professional," said Sampson. "It was windy but we handled the conditions well and scored at the right times. It was a bit scrappy in the first half, but in the second half we got the ball down and played which was nice to see.
"There is not much between the teams in this division, you need a bit of luck sometimes, but I thought we were the better team, generally all the players did well.
"We will be going for the right result on Saturday, the FA Cup is massive, you want to go as far as you can. Hopefully we'll get to the third round and get Liverpool again."
