Northampton manager Ian Sampson is interested in bringing Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele back to Sixfields to cover for the injured Chris Dunn.
Dunn will miss at least 10 days with an ankle injury, prompting Sampson to look to Steele as a possible replacement. Steele was on loan at the League Two side during the second half of last season and Sampson hopes to bring the 19-year-old in short term as the club can't afford to make an extended offer.
Speaking in the Northampton Chronicle, Sampson said: "Chris turned his ankle in training and we're possibly looking at him being out for 10 days.
"He [Steele] would be one we'd be looking but we're hoping Chris won't be out for too long with his injury.
"It's not a long-term injury he has but if it turns out to be longer than expected then Jason is one of the players we would bear in mind."
