The 20-year-old can play as a defender or midfielder and has been used in a variety of roles during his 23 league appearances this season.

Rodgers told BBC Radio Northampton: "The manager has trusted me in many positions and shown confidence in me, and hopefully I'm doing him proud.

"I really don't mind where I play as long as I'm contributing to the team."

Rodgers was instrumental in two of Northampton's goals in Saturday's 3-1 win at Port Vale.

"That's my sort of game, to beat the defender with pace and get the ball in as early as possible," he said.

"Maybe that's what the gaffer likes to see from me, in which case I'm up for the challenge."

The former Arsenal player is out of contract at the end of the season but says he is keen to remain at Sixfields.

"Nothing has been signed yet but I'm happy here, playing well and I want to be involved next season if there's a place for me," he added.
