Promoted from League Two last season, Rochdale have made an excellent start to life at a higher level and go into the game on the back of a fine victory against Lancashire rivals Preston North End.
Tipped to struggle in League One, manager Hill admits his side will be in the unusual position of being favourites for the Northampton cup tie.
"It will be a tough test," he said this week.
"We have got to look at the opposition and come up with a game plan that suits the players we’ve got in our squad."
