The 35-year-old has recently been coaching at MK Dons but will spend a week with the Shakers, who visit Sixfields on Saturday for a vital game at both ends of the table.
A club statement said: "The club are grateful to Robbie for offering his help. We hope some of his talent rubs off for the last month of the season."
Home boss Gary Johnson however has sounded a rallying cry for his players as they prepare to face some high-flying opponents.
Quoted in the Chronicle & Echo he said: “We proved we can compete with the top sides in the games against Torquay and Chesterfield, and these games we’ve got coming up will be tough but we need to get that next win and it’ll be nice to get it at Sixfields."
