There remains no margin for error in the Cobblers' battle against relegation from the Football League but their confidence, boosted by last weekend's win at Accrington, will be tested to the full against a Brewers side still firmly in the hunt for an automatic promotion place.
Town boss Chris Wilder will be without defender Zander Diamond as the Burton loanee has been denied permission to play against his parent club. Midfielder Darren Carter is also missing through suspension and Wilder told the official NTFC website: “We’ve talked about the importance of the group not just the eleven and it will obviously be severely tested on Saturday but it’s an opportunity."
The hosts may have a new boss at the helm since their last meeting with the Brewers but Albion manager Gary Rowett doesn't think too much will have changed in terms of the challenge that his side will face.
He said this week: “Games against Northampton will never be really open. They have a lot of physicality in the team and they are what they are. They’re going to fight and scrap and we have to make sure that we go there and match them."
