The build-up to Town’s game against League Two leaders Leyton Orient was dominated by off-field issues as Northampton Council set a three-week deadline for repayment of a loan to the club as the proposed takeover of the club remains unresolved.
Wilder had previously expressed his sympathy for supporters demanding answers about the future direction of the club but he had his own problems to contend with heading into the Orient clash.
Despite the confidence boost of consecutive League Two victories, Town have been beset by injury problems and, against that backdrop, a point against the high-flying O’s would have been classed as a good result prior to kick-off.
The circumstances of the draw, however, meant there was disappointment from the manager as he saw his side both take the lead and concede an equaliser in stoppage time.
He praised the ‘character’ shown by the Cobblers and will be hoping for more of the same at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening.
Supporters, meanwhile, will be waiting for the next instalment of the off-field story.
