Four points from two tough fixtures have put Port Vale back in the mix for promotion and manager Jim Gannon told The Sentinel: "Trust is growing. Belief is growing. Things I have been saying on the training ground are starting to click."
Ian Sampson brings his Northampton side to Vale Park at the weekend knowing that their away form has to improve if the play-offs are to be a realistic proposition.
Gannon however is in upbeat mood after a rocky start to his time in charge following Micky Adams decision to leave for Sheffield United and he said: "We have to continue what we have been doing and hopefully we will get the points we deserve.
"If we are a team moving towards full momentum then the next three home games should give us an extra edge.
"We have a lot of games to come at Vale Park and that can make a difference. We want to entertain the fans, get them excited and they can help push us through."
