Chris Wilder's side received another tough workout in hot conditions against a side who came within a whisker of reaching the Championship last season.
The manager made only one enforced change to the side he sent out to face Sheffield United on Tuesday night and looks to have a relatively clear idea of his starting XI when Mansfield visit for the opening League Two fixture of the season on August 9.
This week's two senior friendly fixtures have only produced one Town goal which may be a slight concern to Wilder although the quality of opposition has been strong.
His side now travel to face Conference Premier side Eastleigh on Friday night while a Cobblers XI face Wellingborough Town on Tuesday.
