Tuesday night saw a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Sixfields against Sheffield United after which manager Chris Wilder praised his side's second-half performance and the tempo at which they played.
A number of first team squad members then played in the game at Cogenhoe United on Wednesday night and the majority got 90 minutes under their belts in a goalless draw.
“It was a tough match, as they always are," said assistant manager Alan Knill.
"It was a tough pitch, the opposition want to win, and it was exactly what we wanted."
Leyton Orient are the visitors to Sixfields on Saturday with those attending the game able to see in person the latest ground developments.
