Just over half of Toney's 53 league appearances to date have come as a substitute although he featured on 44 occasions in all competitons last season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his age and the number of times he has been used from the bench, Toney's goals to date have tended to come in bunches.
Three times last season he netted in consecutive matches and he did the same in the crucial final stages of the 2013/14 campaign as Chris Wilder orchestrated a great escape.
He has clearly shown enough to see hiim linked with a move to the Championship both in January and earlier this summer but Toney's price tag and potential worth will rise further if he hits the ground running in League Two in August.
