Kaid Mohamed is set to return for Northampton's clash with Hartlepool on Tuesday.
The winger had been sidelined with a foot injury but is expected to make his Sky Bet League Two comeback at Sixfields
But goalkeeper Matt Duke (thigh) has been ruled out for up to four weeks meaning Dean Snedker has been recalled from his loan at Brackley. "Kaid will be back and he will definitely play which is good news for us," boss Chris Wilder told the club's official site
"Matt is going to be out for two to four weeks with a thigh problem so we have recalled Dean."
Hartlepool defender Stuart Parnaby is in contention for a return to action following a hamstring injury. The 32-year-old summer signing was forced to sit out Saturday's goalless draw with Tranmere after limping off before half-time in a previous win over Shrewsbury, but is recovering well.
Michael Duckworth is set to miss out with a similar problem, but the full-back could be available for next weekend's long trip to Plymouth.
Manager Colin Cooper said of Saturday's stalemate on Pools Player: "It looked as though it was a bit of a toil at times, but I'm satisfied in that we backed up last week with something to get ourselves two clean sheets and four points."
