Carlisle moved above Northampton and into the play-off places on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Exeter City at Brunton Park, Newcastle United loanee Alex Gilliead scoring the winner to cap an impressive performance.
At the same time the Cobblers unbeaten run was being ended by Cambridge United with Marc Richards' penalty proving to be just a consolation strike for the visitors.
Manager Chris Wilder felt his side chased the game too much after Richards' goal and also had no complaints about the sending off of Lawson D'Ath who will now miss the Carlisle game.
The two sides meet for the 20th time in Northampton and the long journey seems to have troubled the Cumbrians over the years as they have registered just two previous victories, one of which however was earlier this year when they won 2-0 at Sixfields.
