Boss Ian Sampson is keen to make seven summer signings to replace those players who have left the club since the end of the season and is well on the way to doing the first of those deals. "By the end of this week I am confident that I will have signed two players," he told the Northampton Chronicle while admitting that couple of potential signings had opted for bigger money on offer elsewhere. A possible signing for further down the line is Middlesbrough youngster John Johnson, impressive on loan at Sixfields last season. Gordon Strachan is keen to run the rule over the player at the Riverside Stadium before deciding on his future. Not leaving Northampton however is midfielder Andy Holt. Having originally turned the club's offer of a new contract he has now signed a two-year deal.
