Northampton Town: Easter Preview

Last updated : 23 March 2016 By County Ground

That is a possible scenario as Chris Wilder’s side prepare for fixtures against Newport County at Sixfields on Good Friday and then at Mansfield Town on Easter Monday.

A look at Newport’s results in March show what a difficult side they are to predict. They have beaten play-off contenders Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth during the month (winning 3-0 at Fratton Park) but have also lost heavily to both Barnet and Bristol Rovers.

Scott Boden provides their main goal threat, the 26-year-old having netted 15 times in all competitions to date this season.

NTFC’s Fan Village will be open for the game from 12:30pm onwards and will be in place at Sixfields for the remainder of the season as supporters get ready to toast promotion at some point over the next few weeks.

On Monday, Mansfield Town host the Cobblers and will be looking to keep alive their hopes of making the play-offs.

The Stags, seven points off the top seven going into the Easter period, drew 1-1 with Portsmouth last time out with a debut goal from new loan signing Mani Dieseruvwe after his move from Chesterfield.

A towering presence at 6ft 5in, 21-year-old Dieseruvwe will pose a handful to the Northampton defence.
