Having been freed by Newcastle United at the end of last season the 18-year-old wideman linked up with Northampton for their pre-season trip to Croatia before playing in the Cobblers' pre-season games against Corby and Cogenhoe.
Offered a one-year deal at Sixfields he then turned up in Derby's game against Burton Albion at the weekend, a decision that does not seem to have impressed Aidy Boothroyd too much.
"He (Hoganson) was offered a contract and we may well see him on Tuesday, because he's gone to Derby, so if he plays for them, then great.
"He'll get a game in their reserves and under 18s and if that's what he wants to do, then it's fine by me.
"The offer's still there for him. It won't be there for much longer but he'll decide what he wants to do."
