With Football League status secured by Saturday's goalless draw against Hereford attention has already turned to who Boothroyd will bring in over the summer to ensure that another relegation battle does not occur.
Having been promised a 'top-six' budget by chairman David Cardoza, Boothroyd is set to make changes in order to build on the progress made during his short time in charge.
“At the beginning of the season we were conceding late goals and even in mid-season we were doing that, the Swindon game being a good example,” Ben Tozer told the Chronicle & Echo as he looks to play his way into the manager's thinking in the final two games of the season.
“We handle games better now and we’re getting late goals ourselves. I think that’s because we’re stronger as a team."
One player who certainly seems to be part of the Cobblers' forward thinking is midfielder Michael Jacobs with Cardoza confirming on Tuesday that he had turned down a bid for the player that very morning.
The 20-year-old will be out of contract soon but compensation would be due if he does leave Sixfields in the summer.
Departing the club, it has been announced, will be Lewis Young and Nathaniel Wedderburn, whose contracts are not being renewed.
