The Cobblers were mightily impressive as they cruised to a 3-0 victory which keeps them firmly in touch at the top of League Two.
And, although Allen felt his Barnet side did not give a good account of themselves, he also told the official Bees website: “I thought they were far better than us from the first minute to the last minute, in possession and out of possession, right through the whole team."
Striker Sam Hoskins drew praise from Northampton assistant manager Alan Knill after he came back into the side and scored within five minutes of the whistle.
And, with the January transfer window now having opened and the Cobblers' off-field future looking secure, there should be scope for Knill and manager Chris Wilder to add even more depth to a squad that has surpassed all expectations in the season to date.
