After finally steering the Cobblers out of relegation danger Johnson will now look to put his own stamp on the club and build a squad capable of winning promotion next season.
To that end he has not offered new contracts to eight players whose deals expire shortly, including Marcus Hall and Leon McKenzie, as well as allowing Ryan Gilligan to look for a new club despite being under contract.
Talks are ongoing with Chris Dunn, Dean Beckwith and Liam Davis while a contract offer to midfielder Kevin Thornton is dependant on the former Coventry City man returning for pre-season training in 'top condition'.
A host of new faces can now be expected to arrive at Sixfields in the summer and the Town hierarchy will be hoping that Johnson, a man of huge and varied managerial experience, can use his contacts to bring in the right kind of signing.
