After winning their league place back last season, Justin Edinburgh's side celebrated in style with a hefty weekend win against Accrington Stanley.
They followed that up by shocking Championship side Brighton away from home in the Capital One Cup.
"This is without doubt the greatest result for me as a manager," said Edinburgh.
They come to Sixfields on Saturday looking to increase the pressure on a Northampton side who have made a slow start to the campaign with defeats against York and MK Dons.
“We are a new team and are still building, it’s going to take a bit of time but we have got a lot of work to do," said boss Aidy Boothroyd.
One-time Town loanee Danny Crow will come into contention for a starting place for Newport after coming off the bench to score twice at the Amex Stadium.
