Aidy Boothroyd this week sealed a return to Sixfields for Leicester City striker Jacob Blyth while also signing Bradford City midfielder Ricky Ravenhill.
The duo join Kane Ferdinand (Peterborough United) and Brentford pair Stuart Dallas and Luke Norris at the club with Boothroyd hoping that the Bees allow their players to play in the FA Cup tie.
It's a short-term policy that is a necessity given Northampton's terrible start to the season but it has moved a long way from the summer ideal of a squad put together on the 'quality not quantity' ideal.
The manager, however, seems happier with his options, believing Ravenhill will add 'steel' to the midfield and excited at the prospect of pairing Blyth and Norris together.
“I think Jacob and Luke together will be very difficult opponents for anybody and there are goals in there too," he told the official NTFC website.
