The arrival of a man who had previously guided Norwich City into the Premier League was something of a coup for City and the ex-Northern Ireland boss duly achieved his first task by guiding them to safety in his first few months in charge.
Having now had a pre-season in which to operate with his current squad and add new faces to it, Worthington believes he has the players both to play his favoured 4-4-2 formation but also be flexible when the need arises.
He told local newspaper The Press: “With 4-4-2, for me, you can get the ball out to wide players, you can get excitement in the crowd where wide men are taking full-backs on and getting crosses in.
"There’s lots of goalmouth action."
