The ex-Burton striker has scored 13 goals this season and is set to make his debut against Crewe on Tuesday.
McKenzie told BBC Radio Northampton: "He's another addition that makes the squad stronger. He's got goals in him too, so it's exciting times. I'm looking forward to playing alongside him, and not forgetting Billy McKay, who adds a spark."
McKenzie, who has struggled for regular fitness since joining the club in September, scored the winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Oxford.
"I haven't played for a few weeks, and the main thing for me is to get games and goals," he said.
"I'm doing the best I can. I'm enjoying playing and I'd love to stay here.
"I've done no pre-season, and I hadn't started a game for 18 months, so you get these niggles.
"I'll give 100%. I love scoring goals, I want to continue that and if the body allows me, I'll do my best to be out there."
