Northampton striker Leon McKenzie is becoming increasingly frustrated at being consigned to the bench but has vowed to continue to fight on for a starting place.
McKenzie, who joined the Cobblers last month on a short-term deal until the end of the season, started his first two games for the club but has been used as an impact substitute from the bench in the last four matches. And McKenzie is focusing on improving his match sharpness to push for a starting berth.
He told the Northampton Chronicle: "I'm getting sharper now and I just can't wait to get things rolling because I'm getting the hump. "t's not about being on the bench. The gaffer and all the staff here are looking after me properly. I hadn't played for so, so long so really it's just about looking after me in the right way.
"Hopefully I can start pushing to get that start and hopefully start getting some goals. But I've missed a lot of football and obviously I can only do so much from the time I get on the pitch. But I'm here to work, I'm here to fight for the cause."
