Northampton striker Billy McKay dedicated his goal at Aldershot on Saturday to the teachings of assistant manager Malcolm Crosby.
McKay hit his 10th goal for the Cobblers in the 1-1 draw and showed composure to wait for goalkeeper Jamie Young to commit himself before firing into the corner. McKay said: "Maybe I would have rushed that goal last season. There were a few last week against Wycombe where I got into a good position and rushed it.
"But Malcolm Crosby has told me that when I get on the ball I've just got to compose myself and that advice seemed to work on Saturday.
"I saw their defender was far enough away from me that I would have time to get composed and take a touch. If he was closer I might have had to hit it a bit more quickly but he gave me the time and I managed to capitalise on it."
