Northampton Town travelled to Nottinghamshire on Saturday afternoon once again looking for the victory that would kick-start their season.
Aidy Boothroyd attempted to keep spirits up after last weekend's home defeat against Exeter City by praising the performance of his players and also made a move into the transfer market in midweek with the capture of experienced defender Mathias Kouo-Doumbe on a deal until the end of the season.
Hosts Mansfield went into the game in good spirits after a solid start to life back in the Football League and were hoping for three points to celebrate manager Paul Cox's 100th league fixture in charge.
Pre-Match Quotes: Speaking to BBC Radio Northampton, Boothroyd said: "I'm really excited about this one to get a real good look at us under the microscope."
1st Half: Boothroyd may have been excited about the game to come but his mood may have changed by half-time after goals from Hutchinson and Clucas in a three-minute spell for the hosts put them in command.
2nd Half: Doumbe's debut own goal capped a terrible day for Town on 65 minutes, O'Donovan's entry into the fray coming too late to salvage even a first away goal of the season despite plenty of chances being created.
