Managers reaction to Cobblers win over Rotherham

"It was a good win but I was disappointed we did not keep our tempo up in the second half," he said.

"We took our foot of the pedal and didn't play with any fluency after half time and that was disappointing. The pitch didn't help us pass the ball but I was pleased with the win and the clean sheet and also to score two goals from set plays.

"We had to start the game well, set the pace and play at a good tempo. I was worried that the fans felt this was going to be easy and this was a day when we had to lift the crowd, so to get three goals in the first half was very pleasing.

"We gave the players a bit of a blast at half time because we knew the danger was that we would take our foot off the pedal and although we did fall into that trap, we saw the game out well enough.

"That was abysmal and on the behalf of everybody at the football club I apologise for the first half performance, it's not something that I think you should associate with Rotherham United."

"There are no excuses, we prepared for two days and worked on our shape and everything but once again I'm saying the same thing. You can't concede goals like that, especially away from home."

"That first half performance was lacklustre, I cant put words to it. We were second to everything and you dont have to be a rocket scientist to work out that if you do that your going to lose games. This divison is all about winning second balls and we're not strong enough to do that."
