The former Blackburn Rovers and Celtic star felt his side were unlucky not to take all three points from the promotion chasing Cobblers at Sincil Bank.
"Overall we are a bit disappointed not to get all three points, we were in the ascendancy in the first half, and although there were not too many clear chances we had a few shots that made their keeper work," he said after John Johnson's late strike denied the improving Imps.
"This league is tight, everybody is capable of beating everybody else with the possible exception of Rochdale, who are a cut above the rest.
"It was a great free-kick from Matthew Saunders, we got the goal and are maybe a bit disappointed that we did not do enough to get the win."
